Iranian photographer’s works on display at Dubai exhibit

TEHRAN -- Photos taken by Newsha Tavakkolian are currently on display in an exhibition entitled “Women on the Verge” at the Empty Quarter Photo Gallery in Dubai.
 
Her photos along with photos taken by thirteen other women photographers from Middle East are on display during the showcase which will run until April 30.
 
Larissa Sansour (Palestine), Laura El Tantawy (Egypt), Boushra Almutawakel  (Yemen), Leila Alaoui (Morocco), Rania Matar (Lebanon), 
Waheeda Malullah (Bahrain), Myriam Abdelaziz (Egypt) and Hind Mezaina (UAE) are among the photographers.
 
Newsha Tavakolian, 31, is a self-taught photographer who began her professional career in the Iranian press when she was 16.
 
Her works have been published in several international magazines and newspapers including Time Magazine, Newsweek, Le Figaro, Le Monde, and National Geographic.
